Overview

My wife and I make our home in Southern California. We live about twenty minutes from the coast in Los Angeles. Whenever I want to go anywhere outside of the Los Angeles area, I get to drive through a good chunk of California. I like to take new roads all of the time, but in California, I’m running out! I guess it’s time to do a couple of books.

California has it all. 840 miles of coastline, iconic lighthouses, rugged mountains, tons of wildlife, mountain lakes, barren deserts, rich farmland, and don’t forget those incredible redwoods. To offer a taste of this magnificent state, I’ve created a visual road trip for you.

This state is so big that even the AAA map has to be cut in two. Well – if it works for the AAA, it works for me. We will start with Northern California. This book will take you on a ride through the top half of the map. Grab a glass of wine. We are off to Napa. We’ll spend a while in wine country then make a quick stop at the California State Fair in Sacramento. After that we will cross the Golden Gate Bridge, meander along scenic roads through hillsides and redwoods, and then travel north up the coast for breathtaking seascapes. Oh yeah – we will also stop to visit with a few California cows! We’ll circle back through the mountains, experience Yosemite National Park and head south on Highway 395 to Mono Lake. Not a bad little road trip!

Southern California will pick up where we leave off. Ready? Let’s go.
